I probably shouldn’t admit this but a few weeks after I bought my first horse, I was cleaning out his feet and must have held his leg up for too long. I was still holding his foot up when he went down on his other knee. I let go of his foot and the next thing I knew, both of his front feet were sticking straight out in front of him and his rear end was up in the air. I thought I broke him!! I was in a panic like the person in the cartoon! I seriously was about to call the vet but then he got back up. It turns out he was just stretching…. LOL
Lol! It is frightening the first time they stretch on you. I once had a livery who’d had there horse for a while, ask me to look at this scabby wound they had… It was only the ergot! The owner had never noticed them and it was only because they’d gotten a bit long that she felt them. Well, she felt one as she hadn’t twigged that one on each leg would suggest it was supposed to be there 🙂
